Tips for visiting

  1. Check the Weather: The best time to visit the Phi Phi Islands is during the dry season from November to April. However, even during the dry season, weather conditions can vary, so be prepared for occasional rain or choppy seas.
  2. Book tours in Advance: The islands can get crowded during peak tourist seasons, so it’s advisable to book your tours (and accommodation} well in advance, especially if you are traveling between november-february.
  3. Pack Light: Travel to the islands typically involves taking a tour or ferry, and there will be limited space for luggage. Pack only what you need and consider leaving unnecessary items in your hotel.
  4. Cash and ATMs: There are ATMs on the islands, but it’s a good idea to bring enough cash with you, especially if you plan to visit smaller or more remote areas on the islands (in Thailand, cash is still king!)
  5. Stay Hydrated: The tropical climate can be dehydrating, so carry a reusable water bottle and drink plenty of water, particularly when doing outdoor activities.
  6. Protect the Environment: Respect the environment by not littering, disposing of trash properly, and avoiding contact with or damaging coral reefs while snorkeling or diving.
  7. Sun Protection: The sun in the tropics can be strong. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat to protect yourself from sunburn.

The best time to visit Koh Phi Phi is from November to April, when the weather is dry and sunny. A visit during the monsoon season (June to October) can still be enjoyable, but the seas can be rough and many dive & snorkeling sites may be closed.

The last few years, Maya bay has been closed to visitors between August – October. During covid times the bay was sealed off completely, making sure that wild- and marine life could recover. Nowadays the bay closes around 2 months every year, but this will be decided again every year. When Maya Bay is closed, our tours will still run. We have a look at the famous bay from outside. You will be able to see the bay and its beaches, but we won’t be allowed to dock there. This is all done to preserve nature and is in everyone’s best interest!

The most popular locations include Maya Bay (if it’s open for visitors), Phi Phi Viewpoint, Loh Sama Bay, Tonsai Village, and the various beautiful beaches on Phi Phi Don. During one of our group or private tours you will enjoy the highlights of all the islands.

You can visit Koh Phi Phi on your own by booking a ferry from Koh Lanta, but most travelers prefer joining an organized speedboat tour. These day trips are the easiest way to see the highlights, as they often include stops at several islands, snorkeling, lunch, and beach time. If you’re staying on Koh Lanta, a guided tour is the most convenient and enjoyable option to experience the beauty of Koh Phi Phi in just one day.

The national park fee is THB 400 per adult and THB 200 for children. This fee helps the park authorities protect marine life, preserve the islands, and keep the area clean. It must be paid in cash at the start of your trip and is not included in the price of our Phi Phi island tours from Koh Lanta.
